After X5 and X3, BMW will complete their SUV offer in 2010 with BMW X1, a serious competitor for Toyota RAV4.

BMW logo BMW is preparing a strong competitor to the Toyota RAV4, the BMW X1 model. Its gonna be a baby SUV, and a mix between the 1 series and the X3. Apparently around 100,000 X1’s/year is in the BMW plans.

To bring the costs down, the platform used for this BMW X1 model will be that of the 1 series, the same one used for the new Mini generation.

As for the engines, the BMW X1 will have three petrol (1.8i – 145HP; 2.0i – 175HP; 2.5si – 220HP) and three diesel engines (1.8d – 135HP; 2.0d – 180HP; 3.0d – 231HP).

As for the price, the BMW X1 will start from prices below 30,000 euro.

Hmm, dunno what to say about this one. I like the BMW X5, I hate the BMW X3 and the 1 series … sooo … I’m not exactly loving the idea of a X1. We’ll see how it turns out.
