Moller M400 Skycar VTOLI’m speachless. I had no idea that this existed, even as a prototype. A true flying car! Well, it doesn’t exactly fly ok right now. They have to atach it to a crane, to be sure nothing goes wrong. So it does fly, it’s just not very safe.

Moller International, a California based company, is selling its VTOL (vertical landing/takeoff) prototype. They’ve been working on this since 1983 and they’re selling this one because they need money to continue working on these flying cars. The prototype was listed on Ebay recently and they already got 82 bids and 2,5 million $ on it.

Moller’s dream is to sell 200,000 Skycars every year and to make a true revolution in the auto industry. That number of cars would allow him to drop the price of a flying car to $50,000. Right now, one of these costs $1,000,000 and with 2000/year the price would drop to $500,000.

It’s 5.9m in length (the size of an american SUV) and can hit a speed of 600km/h. The engines can be upgraded and can even be made to work with bioethanol.

Love it! I really hope they will succeed and realise their dream.
